Diocesan Day The Bishop has organised a Family Day Gathering in Villiers Secondary School on Sunday 29th September @ 10:30am-5pm. The School will be represented on that day by 3 pupils. Please let me know if you are attending and your child’s name will be placed in a draw for selection to carry the School Banner in the Opening Procession. See details on reverse side.

School Photos Photographs will be taken on 27th November 2013. As well as Junior Infants and Sixth Class the photographer will take individual and family photos if you want. There is no obligation to purchase.

French Lessons Nazneen has informed the Board and Parents that she is unable to continue with French Lessons. If there is an interest in continuing French Lessons Nazneen  has kindly offered to organise a teacher to continue the  Le Jolie Ronde Program. Please let Ann Parlon know if you are interested in French lessons for your child.

Drama Drama begins on Tuesday 17th Sept for 6 weeks for the Senior Room. Cost €12 – €2 per week

Soccer Soccer lessons have started but there will be no Soccer this week.3 to go as Sylvia has kindly added a fifth lesson for free. Much appreciated Sylvia by all. Thank you Cost €8 €2 per week.

Athletics 3rd and 4th Class, 5th and 6th Class are invited to take part in the County Athletics Cross Country Championships 2013 on Wed 2nd Oct. There are two races 800m and 1000m. Pupils from these classes are welcome to attend, please return permission slips tomorrow. Bus will be organised.

Assembly Adrian Hewson will take an Assembly in school every fortnight on Tuesdays @ 12noon. The pupils will decorate the windows in the Roscrea Church for the Harvest on 6th October.

Hallelujah Choir We are entering the Senior Room in the Hallelujah Choir in City West Hotel on Saturday 7th December 2013 from 10am -5pm.A bus will be organised. They will join lots of other schools in singing songs that they will prepare over the coming weeks.

Roscrea Knitting Circle It is hoped that the ladies who knit will join us shortly to get the pupils in the Middle and Senior Rooms knitting. If you have a craft or skill you would like to share please come and talk to me. The pupils have enjoyed working with parents on the Green School Project and recycling projects with David Blackwell.

Green School We are working towards renewing our flag in March 2014. The theme of which is Litter and Waste Management with a Global Dimension.

Comprehension Strategies We are focusing on developing fluency and understanding of text by working on pupils’ Comprehension Strategies. Please encourage your child to read and ask them to discuss what they have read.

Bag2School Collection is this Friday 20th September @ 11am, bags may be left in school from Wednesday 18th. Thank you in advance from the PA and BOM for your support.

Coffee Afternoon for the Hospice6th Class pupils will host our Annual Coffee Morning on Thursday 26th September @ 10:30am – 12noon,  to raise funds for North Tipperary  Hospice. Please invite family and friends to join us
