THE ARTS

The Arts take pride of place at St. Cronan’s National School. The children greatly enjoy their lessons in Visual Art, Music and Drama. We try to give the children as many opportunities as possible to develop and share their talents.

Drama: Whether it be performing improvised sketches for their classmates or a Christmas play for their families, the children love taking to the stage. Over the years, pupils have enjoyed performing small-scale productions including Christmas performances, talent shows and graduation ceremonies for their families as well as larger scale musicals including “Matilda” and “The Three Little Pigs” for the local community.

Music: Before Covid-19 halted our singing, the children regularly engaged with music initiatives in the locality. From carol-singing at the bank and Taste of Roscrea to participating in a cross-generational choir with the Rosie Greys, the children love to share their musical talents.

Visual Art: The children develop their artistic skills through a range of initiatives, for example, the Texaco Art Competition and CraftEd. This year, we look forward to welcoming an Artist in Residence to further broaden the children’s knowledge and skills in this area.
